How it works

Why Unknown Ink exists

Built in a tattoo studio, not a lab.

In 2019 we opened a tattoo studio in a Finnish city of 100,000 people, with 15 other studios already in town and zero local connections.

The work was good, but we didn't know how to present it properly.

So we rigged a DIY polarized setup to kill the glare. Within weeks, Instagram was bringing clients in from other cities, and the artists' books filled up months ahead.

So, we started our journey with one goal: to help as many artists as possible showcase their work in the best way possible.

After countless failed prototypes, we're happy to say that we finally nailed it.

With over 10,000 pieces sold, we have the numbers to back up our words.

We've come a long way from a DIY project, but every single hour was worth it.

Unknown Ink is that setup, made simple, so your photos sell your work the way ours did.

★★★★★

“This lighting set up has been a game changer for my pix. No glare and actually looking the way they look in person makes a world of difference in the confidence to show off the tattoos! I’ve recommended this product to all 7 artists at my shop! Thank you!”

★★★★★

“Love the light it really does take your photos to the next level! For years I was struggling with glare because I use a lot of black in my tattoos. When you spend countless hours on a design and then don’t even get one good shot for your portfolio, it’s extremely frustrating. Thanks to this product that is not longer an issue from here on out. Highly recommend this product!”
